With vaccinations coming up across the globe, the Organising Committee is looking forward to having an in-person event in Ghent. The organisers are prepared to welcome everyone with its hybrid event, allowing participants unable to travel to Ghent to attend from home in all on-site events and even interact with other participants as well as exhibitors and sponsors.
The theme of the Congress is “Structural Engineering for Future Societal Needs”, comprising building and maintaining safe and reliable buildings and infrastructures under the effects of climate change in a world with scarcer resources and the ambition to reduce mankind’s CO2 footprint. Anticipated sub-themes are therefore amongst others ’structural safety and reliability with respect to climate change’, ’circularity, re-use and sustainability of structures’, and ’emission free building of structures. The majority of the congress presentations will cover these sub-themes in normal presentation sessions, poster sessions, poster ”elevator pitch” sessions, discussion sessions, a Pecha Kucha session and special sessions.
