Prof Micheal Darter – The winner of Swedish Concrete Award 2017
will come to Chalmers and give a presentation with the title
“Long & Winding Road” to Today’s Highly Reliable Concrete Pavements
Time: 13:15-14:00, Thursday, 19 October
Place: SB-K393 (on the 3rd floor, Sven Hultins gata 6, Gothenburg
Prof Darter served on the faculty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois from 1973 until retiring in 2003. He currently works as a Senior Principal Engineer for Applied Research Associates, Inc. Prof Darter is an internationally recognized expert in pavement research and consulting. He has made invited presentations and seminars in over 30 foreign countries. Prof Darter has received many awards and honors for his accomplishments in transportation infrastructure engineering.
Today’s concrete pavements are highly reliable and successful in producing 40+ years of good performance and then many additional years of good performance after overlays or restoration. Prof Darter will describe in interesting terms how the “long and winding road” of improvements to theory, design, materials, traffic load modeling, climatic effects and subgrade effects to how this accomplishment was achieved.
Welcome to this informative presentation!
